Alice and her husband Ed were searching for some contemporary style doors when they found Vibrant Doors online. Our black industrial style internal doors became the latest addition to their modern and bright garage conversion, transforming it into a versatile and easily accessible playroom for their little one. A great way to utilise space in a new build property while maintaining a stylish feel.
When Alice and her husband moved into their new build property in South Yorkshire, they successfully maximised space with a garage conversion; transforming it into a bright and modern playroom for their little one.
With a neutral colour palette and sophisticated feel, the space was missing one final detail: industrial style black glazed doors. Read more about this impressive room transformation to discover why these internal doors were the perfect choice for a garage conversion.
Industrial style doors (featuring sleek solid wood frames and expansive glass panels) are the perfect standout architectural element that easily elevates this neutral playroom beyond the ordinary.
The clean yet striking lines and minimalist look of the doors are a subtle contrast to the soft, practical nature of the new playroom. This juxtaposition adds a modern edge while maintaining a sense of fun and energy.
“We initially chose this new build as we wanted somewhere to store our car. However, we had our little boy in July 2023. As he was growing up, crawling, then walking, we needed space for him to explore, enjoy his toys and, of course, make a mess!”
- Alice
There are practical benefits, too. The inherent durability of industrial style doors ensures they can withstand the rigours of a busy playroom. And because they’re crafted from solid hardwood, they’re energy efficient too. Just what’s needed to inject a little extra cosiness into this neutral, minimalistic space.
Black industrial style doors may be darker in tone but they’re surprisingly effective when it comes to creating a bright and breezy home. The intentionally large glass panels maximise natural light, transforming a potentially dark garage into an airy and inviting room. Allowing sunlight to stream in throughout the day, they create less need for artificial lighting.
“We wanted the playroom to have a bright vibe to it. We contrasted the black and grey theme with white walls and opted for double doors to ensure an open, spacious finish. My husband did all the research for our doors online and when we found Vibrant Doors we knew we’d find a design that matched what we had pictured for the playroom.”

Achieving a stylish and modern garage conversion so effortlessly means Alice, Ed and their young son can enjoy this space as an integral (and functional) part of their home.
What stands out most is that eye catching blend of clean lines and striking details which creates the perfect blank canvas for a playroom packed with personality. It’s also versatile enough to adapt as the years go by. The grownups may get to enjoy the space as a home office, media room or utility room in the future.
The finished result is all about visual contrast. A key element of all good interior design. Dark wooden frames combined with abundant natural light, complemented by cool neutrals and cosy textiles. A practical and polished feast for the eyes.
“Our doors are stylish, modern and on trend. Exactly what we wanted! We love our choice and have already recommended Vibrant Doors to all our friends!”
